What you need are a set of see-thru scope mounts. That way you can see UNDER the scope for your iron sights. It's much better than the unnatural feel of having the scope off to the side. I have been using mine for 25 years, and the iron sights have saved the day at least once.

As a bonus, you can mount a scope with a larger objective diameter. I could only put a 40mm scope on my 336 with standard rings. With the see-thru, I have a 45mm and can still use the sights.
