Can these binoculars really make you see thing 330 times closer than normal vision?

Kieran: It says 30x-330x.
Wouldn't that mean adjustable zoom? A minimum of 30 and a maximum of 330?
Dude of URL's, I want really good zoom ones, my sister has 65x42 binoculars and they are really good and work fine.
They can see a lot of detail.
What would be the best zoom ones I could get?
GeoffG: Sorry, I meant 62x35.

That's what the specifications say, but these would be totally unusable at 330x. That magnification is way too high for the resolution of the lenses. And there's also the question of the _size_ of the lenses. The engraving in the image says 30-380x300 (which would mean objectives 300mm (12 inches) in diameter, which is physically impossible. The printed specifications say 55mm diameter, which is closer to the truth. 330x with a 55mm objective would give impossibly dim and blurry images.

In short, the binoculars' specifications are completely wrong, which makes me wonder whether they're some sort of cheap toy binoculars. I certainly wouldn't buy anything with advertising as wonky as this!

In general zoom binoculars should be avoided, especially or astronomical use. They generally have poor optics and narrow fields of view compared to single magnification binoculars. I've never heard of 65x42mm binoculars -- are you sure you aren't missing a decimal point, and they really are 6.5x42?

For astronomy, 10x50 binoculars are the best, and you should expect to pay at least $100 for them to be sure of sharp images all across the field of view.

[Edit] On thinking more about it, the "30x-380x300" may refer to area magnification, which is the square of linear magnification. This would convert to linear magnifications of 5.5x to 19x, which makes a little more sense, though 19x is still way to high magnification for 55mm binoculars. The "300" part of the specification is still baffling, since 300mm is close to 12 inches no matter what, and the lenses look to be only 55mm across. _Sometimes_ these weird manufacturers give the focal length of _telescopes_ in the specifications, but _never_ have I seen this for binoculars. Something is very definitely "off" with these binoculars -- avoid!!!
